People's Bureau at Elephant & Castle
has since the Pilot in May/June 2014 operated from a customised traders' shopping cart that was - inspired by the shopping centre that was once Schiapparelli pink - painted pink.
The cart which is based on the first floor of the Elephant & Castle shopping centre (outside Jenny's cafe) becomes animated on a monthly basis, when through exchanges in skills the project activates individuals from local communities and collaborations with local organisations.
The project collects evidence and makes visible the diversity of cultures, skills, networks and resourcefulness present in an area, currently undergoing a large-scale redevelopment that is likely to permanently displace local individuals, traders and organisations.
